It’s that time of the year again! Friends and families are gathering to celebrate the holidays, and everybody wants to look their best. At Southeastern Institute of Restorative Medicine, we provide many of our patients with Botox and dermal fillers to help enhance their facial appearance and gain confidence for the holidays.
What is Botox?
Botox is an injectable formula that helps to correct facial wrinkles, such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It works by inhibiting communication between your facial muscles and nerves, blocking their ability to contract and form unwanted wrinkles.
A Botox procedure performed by Dr. Gregory Thompson and his staff is quick, easy, and only takes about 10-20 minutes. The process involves very precise injections with a small needle at the spot of treatment and is minimally painful. It’s so easy that many people choose to have Botox injections during their lunch break.
What are dermal fillers?
Similar to Botox, dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that helps enhance facial beauty. While dermal fillers help to reduce wrinkles, they can also be used for several other purposes such as:
- Improving volume to cheeks and temples
- Plumping lips
- Eliminating an unwanted chin crease
- Enhancing symmetry of facial features
A dermal filler treatment takes slightly longer than a Botox Treatment; you can typically expect that Dr. Thompson and his staff will have you in and out in 20 – 40 minutes. The treatment is done through the use of a needle that strategically places a smooth, naturally occurring gel at the point of treatment.
How long do the results last?
Depending on the individual, you’ll typically see full results from Botox 7-14 days after your treatment. Your Botox effects will last anywhere between three to six months before needing your next treatment. You’ll start to notice that wrinkles and lines will become less severe over time and consecutive treatments.
You’ll notice the effects of dermal fillers are immediately after treatment and last between 6-18 months, but this depends entirely on the areas of treatment, the types of filler you choose, and how much filler is needed during your treatment.
The holiday season is an exciting and fun time of year. You’ll be seeing friends and family that you might not have seen for an entire year, so why not look your best? If you’re interested in receiving Botox or dermal fillers this holiday season or are simply looking for more information on the treatments, call or schedule an appointment with us today. We’re happy to sit down and discuss your questions or concerns.
