How Long Does It Take for Jeuveau To Start Working?

jeuveau botox

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wished you looked as young as you felt? With Jeuveau at Southeastern Institute of Restorative Medicine in Dothan, AL, you can. This prescription medication is the latest breakthrough in anti-aging technology and a great alternative to other neurotoxins, like Jeuveau Botox. Today, our experts discuss how long it takes for the medication to start working, how you can make it work faster, and more. Here’s what you need to know.

How Long Does it Take Jeuveau To Start Working?

One of the most exciting things about Jeuveau is how quickly it starts working. Individual results vary but most people start to enjoy the benefits of treatment two to three days after the injections. In contrastingly, it can take seven to 10 days to start seeing the results of other neuromodulator injections.

How Quickly Can You See the Final Results?

Again, this depends on the individual. However, most people see the final effects of their treatment four days after their injections. However, depending on the dose of medication used and the severity of the muscle hyperactivity, it can take up to a week to see the final results of these injections.

How Does This Compare to Alternative Neurotoxins?

The results of this treatment can be seen approximately 3.5 times faster than the results of alternative neurotoxins. For example, Botox usually takes around a week to demonstrate the initial results of treatment and often takes two weeks to provide the final results of treatment.

Is There Anything I Can Do to Make it Work Faster?

Yes. There are several things you can do to see the results of Jeuveau faster. Among the actionable steps, you can take are massaging the treatment area after the first 24 hours following your session and exercising the treated muscles the day of your session. We’ll get into why you shouldn’t massage the treatment area during the first 24 hours following your session shortly.

Exercising Your Treated Muscles the Day of Your Session

It takes time for the medication to settle into your muscles and start blocking the communication from your brain to the nerve endings in your muscles. However, you can help the treatment results appear faster by exercising the treated muscles. This helps the medication settle faster.

If you have the muscles around the corners of your eyes treated squint 40 times. Wait 10 minutes and squint 40 more times. Wait 10 more minutes and squint 40 times again. If you have your nasolabial folds treated, perform three sessions of 40 nose scrunches separated by 10-minute rest periods. The same advice of performing three sets of 40 repetitions holds true regardless of the muscles that were targeted during treatment.

Where Can This Medication Be Administered?

This medication is FDA-approved to treat glabellar lines, the deep lines that form between your eyebrows and worsen when you raise your eyebrows. It can also be used to erase moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds that form around the corners of your eyes, known as Jeuveau for Crow’s Feet, that worsens when you squint or smile.

Furthermore, this medication can be used to smooth away moderate-to-severe forehead lines that grow deeper when you frown and smile lines that extend horizontally from the corners of your mouth and deepen when you smile. Depending on whether you have vertical nasolabial folds that are caused by muscle hyperactivity or collagen loss, this medication may be able to erase your nasolabial folds.

How Long Do the Results of Treatment Last?

The results of Jeuveau can last anywhere from five to six months. This, again, contrasts with alternative neuromodulators that can only offer results lasting between three and four months at most. However, as with any anti-aging treatment, the durability of the treatment results varies from person to person. People with more hyperactive muscles may find the results of neurotoxic protein injections fade faster than people with only mild-to-moderate hyperactivity.

How Can I Make the Results of Treatment Last Longer?

There are several things you can do to make the results of your treatment last longer. For example, you should schedule regular maintenance sessions because regular injections will keep your muscles functioning without hyperactivity. Muscles that aren’t hyperactive will eventually “atrophy” with so “little” use. This means that even if you skip a maintenance session, your muscles will be weaker and less hyperactive so your wrinkles will be milder.

You should also do everything you can to avoid applying pressure to your face for 24 hours and minimize your exposure to heat and the sun. Here’s a closer look.

Schedule Regular Treatment Sessions

Schedluing regular treatment sessions is one of the most effective things you can do to increase the longevity of your results. It is certainly the simplest because you don’t have to change any aspect of your lifestyle if you are making lifestyle choices that are not conducive to skin health. How often you need to schedule maintenance sessions depends on how hyperactive your muscles are, the dose you received and where you received the injections.

You’ll have the best idea of how often you will need maintenance sessions five months after your first session. If your results haven’t faded noticeably, schedule a maintenance session for six months after your first injections. The idea of maintenance sessions is to keep your muscles operating without hyperactivity. If your results have faded slightly, schedule a follow-up session as soon as possible.

Don’t Rub Your Face for 24 Hours After Treatment

Another incredibly simple way to improve the durability of your results is to avoid rubbing the treatment area for the first 24 hours following treatment. Although the protein works very quickly, it still needs time to settle deep into your muscles and start working. Do your best to not apply too much pressure to the treatment area for 24 hours.

We strongly recommend that you go without wearing makeup for the first 24 hours following your treatment. You may inadvertently apply too much pressure to your face removing your makeup later in the day. Do your best to sleep on your back rather than your side or stomach to avoid the pressures of gravity and the weight of your head being applied to your face for several hours the night of your treatment. You may sleep as you wish the following night.

Avoid Heat

Avoiding heat is another simple technique you can use to extend the durability of your treatment. Heat is bad for the neurotoxic protein that is injected beneath your skin. If you take a hot shower, sunbathe or otherwise get the treatment area too hot within the first 72 hours following your treatment, the injections won’t be as effective. In addition to not being as effective, they won’t last as long as they would if you kept the treatment area cool.

Wear Sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen may not be as simple as scheduling a follow-up session or avoiding heat but it is still a very important step to take if you want your Jeuveau injections to last as long as possible. Sun damage is one of the leading causes of wrinkles and other signs of premature aging.

It doesn’t relate to neurotoxic protein injections directly. Neurotoxic protein injections treat wrinkles caused by muscle hyperactivity and sun damage causes wrinkles by destroying collagen and making your skin produce more collagen at a reduced rate. However, sun damage should be avoided at all costs if you want to remain wrinkle-free for as long as possible. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF for the best results.

How Should I Prepare for Treatment?

To prepare for this non-invasive treatment, let us know about your medical history and discuss all allergies you have. We also need to know about any medical conditions you have. This information will help us determine whether you are a good candidate, something we’ll discuss in greater detail in just a minute.

If we determine you are a good candidate for treatment, ask your doctor if it is safe to stop taking certain medications. To prepare for your treatment, you must stop taking NSAIDs, MAOIs, blood-thinners, and certain nutritional supplements for three days. However, you should never stop taking drugs or supplements without approval from your primary care physician. You should also stop drinking alcohol and consuming tobacco for two weeks prior to treatment.

What Should I Expect After Treatment?

Since this is a non-invasive treatment, there is no downtime following the injections. Therefore, you are free to return to work or whatever social event is scheduled. However, you should strongly consider not wearing makeup for the first 24 hours following your session. There’s nothing inherently wrong with applying makeup but you may accidentally apply too much pressure while you are removing it.

You should also strongly consider not engaging in vigorous exercise for the first few days after your treatment session. Remember, excessive heat reduces the efficacy of the injections so if you exercise vigorously and get too hot, the results of your treatment may fade faster. It is also important to avoid vigorous exercise after treatment because vigorous exercise elevates your blood pressure. You should do everything you can to keep your blood pressure stable by:

  • Not working out too hard
  • Limiting salt consumption
  • Not smoking
  • Not drinking alcohol
  • Minimizing caffeine consumption

Am I a Good Candidate for This Anti-Aging Treatment?

The best candidate for this prescription medication is a physically and mentally healthy individual who is at least 18 years old and wants to eliminate lines, wrinkles, and folds caused by muscle hyperactivity. Unfortunately, you will not be considered a good candidate for this treatment if you are pregnant or nursing or have a history of neuromuscular diseases, like multiple sclerosis.

You should also not consider this treatment if you are currently sick or you have had an infection in the past 14 days. We will discuss your medical history, current health, and allergies during your initial consultation to ensure that treatment is appropriate for you at this time. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the medication, we will discuss effective alternatives to correct your current cosmetic concerns.
