How The Vampire Facial Works
Micro-needling uses a special pen with surgical steel needles applied directly to the skin to make controlled puncture wounds. The depth of the injuries depends on the specific problem being treated. These injuries stimulate the body’s wound healing response as well as the natural production of collagen and elastin. The result is tighter, smoother, and softer skin. Our practice offers the Vampire Facial, which is a combination of micro or dermal needling in conjunction with PRP to enhance the results. PRP is an autologous substance containing growth factors or molecules that promote tissue repair and cell production and differentiation. Traditionally, PRP has been used in orthopedic and reconstructive surgery to accelerate healing. But recent advances in technology have led to the use of PRP in aesthetic skin care treatments to rejuvenate aging or blemished skin. We can apply PRP to the skin prior to and after dermal needling; the tiny punctures or channels created with the dermal needling pen allow the PRP to penetrate the skin.
